A “cookie” is a small file that a website asks your browser to save on your device. The next time you visit, your browser sends the file back so the site can remember something about you — for example, that you have already dismissed a notice, or that you are signed in. Closely related technologies (such as localStorage and sessionStorage) work in a similar way and are covered by the same rules.
Short version: only essential cookies. No Google Analytics. No Facebook Pixel. No advertising trackers. No remarketing.
These are needed for the site to work and do not require your consent under PECR Reg 6(4). They cannot be switched off through this notice.

The site does not currently set any functional cookies beyond the essential ones above. The site is mostly static and does not have user accounts, saved preferences, or shopping baskets.
The site does not currently run any third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, and no Netlify Analytics tag wired into the pages. The website host’s aggregate request logs (which do not place a cookie on your device) are used only for security and operational purposes — see the Privacy Notice for detail.

Some pages embed or link to YouTube videos and to a small number of third-party sites (for example, the GMC register, ResearchGate, ORCID). When you click a link to one of those sites, or play an embedded video, the third party may set its own cookies under its own privacy and cookie policies. The practice has no control over those cookies. To avoid them, you can choose not to follow the link or play the video.
Because the site only uses essential cookies, there is nothing on the cookie list that you need to opt in to. The first time you visit, you will see a brief banner explaining this. Pressing “Got it” simply remembers that you have seen the banner.
You can view, control, and delete cookies through your browser’s settings. The exact steps depend on the browser:
Blocking essential cookies and storage may stop parts of the site from working as expected (for example, the cookie banner may keep reappearing). General guidance for consumers is also available from the ICO.
If you would like to see the cookie banner again on this device — for example to re-read it — press the button below. This clears the “you’ve seen the banner” flag from your browser’s storage.
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. There is no single agreed standard for how websites should respond to DNT, and the practice does not currently change behaviour based on it — because the site does not track users in any case.
If the practice ever adds analytics, embeds new third-party content that sets cookies, or otherwise changes the cookies in use on the site, this notice will be updated and (where required) the cookie banner will be revised so that you can give or refuse consent. The “last updated” date below shows when the current version took effect.
